Physical Requirements

This position may include sitting at a computer work station for extended periods of time utilizing repetitive motions, may require standing for extended periods of time, and may require the ability to lift up to 25 pounds.



Shift

Primarily Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.



Job Summary

The Trauma Registrar/UKHC is a member of the Trauma and Acute Care Surgical Services Department. Primary responsibilities for this position include obtaining, abstracting, correcting, and entering appropriate patient data both concurrently and retrospectively on trauma patients. This position is an essential member of the trauma team responsible for maintaining the data needed to ensure a comprehensive multidisciplinary program for the care of the trauma patient.



Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

The ideal candidate will have in-depth computer skills including Microsoft office experience and knowledge; a strong understanding of coding and registrar processes; and a thorough understanding of data analysis. Educational coursework to be completed within one year of hire in order to obtain certifications (i.e., Trauma Registrar Certification).

Preferred Education/Experience

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required; Three to five years coding and/or registry experience preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology and electronic medical records preferred. Current Trauma Registrar Certification, Abbreviated Injury Scale Certification preferred.
