POSITION PURPOSE: We are seeking a skilled and innovative Technical Training Manager to develop comprehensive online and classroom courseware for our educational platform, Veolia Academy. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and leading technical training programs that not only enhance the skills and knowledge of our workforce but also enable them to acquire state licenses in the water sector, ensuring compliance with industry standards and state regulations. This role demands a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of workforce development in the water and wastewater sector.

PRIMARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Training Program Development: Design, develop, and implement comprehensive technical training programs tailored to the needs of our workforce, focusing on water and wastewater management processes and technologies.
  • Resource Integration: Identify and integrate high-quality external resources, ensuring all materials are used in compliance with copyright laws.
  • Instructional Design: Utilize instructional design principles to create engaging and effective training materials and courses. Experience with e-learning platforms and digital training tools is highly desirable.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Establish and maintain strong relationships with state licensing regulators, industry associations, and other key stakeholders to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and to stay updated with industry trends.
  • Workforce Development Strategy: Collaborate with operational leaders and HR to assess training needs and develop a strategic workforce development plan that aligns with the company’s goals and industry standards.
  • Evaluation and Improvement: Implement evaluation processes to measure the effectiveness of training programs. Use feedback and data to continuously improve training content and delivery methods.
  • Compliance and Certification: Ensure all training programs meet state and federal regulatory requirements and help employees achieve necessary certifications.
  • Budget Management: Manage the training budget, ensuring efficient use of resources and alignment with organizational financial practices. Content Creation: Develop original content including text, graphics, videos, and interactive elements that enhance learning and engagement.
  • Office setting with regular hours, though some travel may be required for stakeholder engagement and site visits.
  • Occasional exposure to operational sites within the water and wastewater industry.

Qualifications

Education / Experience / Background

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Human Resources, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in technical training.
  • Proven experience in developing and leading training programs, with a strong understanding of instructional design principles.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills with the ability to engage with state regulators and industry stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and e-learning platforms.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Creative and analytical thinker with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.
  • Experience in creating courses for diverse audiences.

Required Certification / Licenses / Training

  • Certification in Training and Development, Instructional Design, or a related field is a plus.
