Job Summary
You must be a current UK student to apply to this position. This position is located off-campus with a local Lexington employer and is not affiliated with UK.
1. Be responsible for the daily planning and execution of all classroom and outdoor activities.
2. Be responsible to greet each child cheerfully and lovingly each day.
3. List the names of the children as they arrive in the early morning for a quick reference in times of emergency.
4. Be responsible for the welfare, health, and safely of the children under her/his care, acting to prevent injury at all times.
5. Be responsible for all mealtime activities, eating with the group in a family-style stetting.
6. Be responsible to maintain accurate attendance and miscellaneous records on each child under her/his care.
7. Be responsible for the constructive utilization of aides and volunteers.
8. Be responsible for the daily lesson plans, writing them monthly in advance, and submitting them to the director for review.
9. Be responsible for posting and implementation of these plans advising the parents personally of changes in schedules and field trips for the class.
10. Be responsible for the keeping of equipment and classrooms in an orderly arrangement conducive to the well being of the children.
11. Be responsible for seeing to the constant supervision of the children within her/his care.
12. Be responsible for returning, cleaning, and storing properly any kitchen utensil or food item to the kitchen as soon as possible and before leaving for the day.
13. Be responsible to record physical or behavioral observations concerning children as requested by the director and attending parent conferences as requested.
14. Be responsible to maintain attractive bulletin boards to supplement the curriculum.
15. Be responsible to grow as a professional by attending workshops, conferences, and in-service training frequently.
16. Be responsible for planning, gaining approval, and implementing field trips.
17. Be responsible for helping to plan and carry out programs and meetings with the children for the churches.
18. Be responsible to inform the director when equipment needs repairing, replaced, or purchased.
19. Be responsible to purchases consumable items as called for within the class budget established by the director and to submit receipts to the bookkeeper promptly.
20. Be responsible to establish with the director and other staff members, methods of discipline informing the director of special needs of any child.
21. Be aware of any child’s needs and maintain knowledge of the family’s background and environment.
22. Maintain a list of children remaining in your care as the day draws to a close.
