The Technology Business Enablement (TBE) team powers American Express Tech Strategy by enabling Predictability, Transparency, and Efficiency through best-in-class Tech Business Management capabilities.  Technology Business Enablement team powers technology, business, and product to achieve business and customer value by optimizing technology investments, elevating transparency and enabling decisioning through trusted insights and best in class portfolio and program management.  

This Sr. Technical Program Manager role will be responsible for providing governance and oversight to Enterprise Top Programs and Enterprise Critical Multi Year Initiatives.  The team provides management, process and reporting that enables increased rigor, transparency and standards to deliver outcomes tied to strategic business objectives on time and within budget.   

The ideal candidate will be a skilled communicator who enjoys a fast-paced environment, operates cross functionally with a passion for process innovation, attention to detail and develop meaningful relationships across technology, business and product partners.    Additionally, this candidate will have deep investment analytics and financial management experience and executive presentation experience. 

In this role you will: 

  • Collaborate effectively and build key relationships with stakeholder teams to identify and manage milestones and overall plan.
  • Create required reporting for Enterprise Critical Multi Year Initiative and Enterprise Top Programs for executive leaders including providing financial oversite on Forecast vs Actuals.
  • Drive adoption of newly established enterprise standards to increase consistency and drive automation of status reporting for best-in-class program management.
  • Partner with Portfolio Management Office help provide monthly/quarterly reporting and oversight into Enterprise Top Programs and Enterprise Critical Multi Year Initiatives.
  • Promote awareness and transparency by keeping stakeholders informed of key decisions and status.
  • Support development of change management initiatives, implementation strategy, and enabling tools/processes.
  • Manage and update audit request for ETP and ECMIs in relation to Process Risk Self-Assessments (PRSA) and Management Action Plans (MAP)
  • Develop financial and risk models to complement and respond to senior leadership demands

Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in, Business Administration, Finance, or another related field. 
  • 5+ years Portfolio or Program Management experience and leading complex strategic or transformation initiatives in a large technology organization. 
  • Strong communication skills with ability to mediate and influence without authority, advanced or expert PowerPoint and visual presentation skills to clearly communicate, at all levels, in verbal and written form. 
  • Ability to host meetings, create agendas, maintain clear meeting notes, follow up to ensure others complete their assigned actions. 
  • Demonstrated ability to take the initiative to spot problems before they arise, find solutions, and provide timely follow-through. 
  • Excellent attention to detail and understanding of the big picture. 
  • Ability to execute and maintain high performance under tight timelines. 
  • Literacy in financial modeling/analysis; should be able to connect strategy to financial results. 
  • Excellent at building relationships and inspiring others. 
  • Ability to influence others and move toward a common vision or goal. 
  • Flexible and adaptable; able to work in ambiguous situations. 
  • Organized with a natural inclination for planning strategy and tactics. 
  • Problem solving and root cause identification skills. 
  • Must be a team player and able to work collaboratively with and through others. 
  • Familiarity with project management approaches, tools, and phases of the project lifecycle. 

Salary Range: $110,000.00 to $190,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
