Job Summary
This position is located in Hazard, Kentucky.
The University of Kentucky Center of Excellence in Rural Health (UK CERH) is seeking a Rural Project Manager for our newly funded HRSA grant, Project RISE (Resilience In an Opioid Stricken Environment). This four-year grant initiative, from September 30, 2024, through August 28, 2028, aims to develop an opioid-impacted family support program by cross-training certified peer support specialists and community health workers to provide tailored assistance and resources to families affected by an opioid use disorder.
The Rural Project Manager will lead Project RISE and oversee the development and implementation of apprenticeship opportunities with healthcare and public health agencies throughout the designated Appalachian counties in Kentucky. This position will promote the program and recruit eligible participants, evaluate participants for eligibility, ensure compliance with training requirements, and provide ongoing support to participants to foster their success. In addition, this position will work closely with the project team to coordinate training opportunities and manage logistics, including venue selection, lodging accommodations, trainer availability, and materials preparation. Other responsibilities include data management and reporting, ensuring accurate tracking of program outcomes and compliance with grant requirements.
This position will require travel to designated rural Appalachian Counties in Kentucky, as well as additional travel related to meetings and conferences.
Located in Hazard, Kentucky, approximately two hours from Lexington, the UK CERH was established in 1990 by state legislation to address health disparities in rural Kentucky. Our mission is to improve the health and well-being of rural Kentuckians, and for over three decades, we have partnered with communities, providers, students, and individuals to achieve this goal through health professions education, health policy research, health care services, and community engagement.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
Leadership skills, analysis skills, attention to detail. Project management skills, strategic thinker, verbal and visual communication skills, and the ability to work effectively and simultaneously in multiple forms of communication. Proficient in MS Suite. Ability to travel for work (i.e. meetings, conferences, technical assistance) on a regular basis.

Preferred Education/Experience
Master’s degree and 6 years of related experience. Prefer experience in mental health counseling and/or training. Valid driver’s license preferred.
