Nurse Practitioner
Encore Outpatient Services is looking for a per diem Nurse Practitioner to join our amazing and dedicated team. Encore is conveniently located in Arlington, Virginia, in the Ballston metropolitan area, serving the Greater Washington, D.C. area and Northern Virginia. Since inception, Encore has been committed to providing the very best treatment for substance use and mental health disorders, specializing in the treatment of underlying trauma, addiction interaction disorders and process addictions. Our program provides a full-continuum of outpatient care, with holistic therapies, career coaching, family education and support, medication management, and community integration, all provided from a trauma-informed lens. We provide a clinically sophisticated and comprehensive approach, guiding patients and families to recovery for life.
This position is per diem - will need to be available for in-person and virtual appointments with patients.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive psychiatric evaluations for clients with addiction and co-occurring mental health disorders.
- Prescribe, manage, and adjust medications as needed, ensuring appropriate and safe use.
- Order and interpret laboratory tests and other diagnostic evaluations to inform treatment planning.
- Provide ongoing medication management and follow-up care, ensuring that clients' medical and psychiatric needs are regularly assessed and met.
- Meet with clients to discuss their overall health, mental health concerns, and treatment progress.
- Work collaboratively with Encore’s clinical team, including licensed professional counselors and social workers, to ensure a coordinated and holistic approach to client care.
- Document all client interactions and treatment plans in accordance with Encore's standards and regulatory requirements.
- Stay up to date on best practices in psychiatric care, addiction treatment, and pharmacology.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's or Doctorate degree in Nursing with a specialization in psychiatric-mental health (PMHNP).
- Current and unrestricted NP license in Virginia.
- DEA number for DC, MD, and VA.
- Certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).
- Experience working with adult (18+) populations.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in addiction treatment and/or psychiatric care, preferably in an outpatient setting.
- Ability to work independently as the sole medical provider within the practice.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
- Knowledge of addiction medicine and evidence-based treatment approaches for co-occurring disorders.
- If in recovery, two years of continuous sobriety preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Microsoft Office – Excel / Power Point / Word.
- Ability to acquire knowledge of Caron Programs.
- Ability to acquire knowledge of all aspects of licensing / accreditation procedures.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written.
- Ability to prioritize and perform/coordinate multiple assignments and tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to interact professionally with patients, referral sources and the public.
- Must be able to function with minimal supervision.
- CPR Certification
