Position Information
Hiring Department: Housing & Residence Life
Posting End Date: Open until filled.
Hours: 40 hours per week, standard Monday- Friday 8:00am- 5:00pm, flexibility is required on evenings and weekends
FLSA status: Exempt
Earliest Start Date: As soon as possible.
Salary: $37,404 Annually

A valid driver's license issued by the State where the applicant resides and insurability as defined in UTS 157 may be required to perform the position's essential functions.
Purpose of Position
Essential Functions
Ensure the maintenance, cleanliness, and safety of residential properties and University daycare facilities
- Perform regular walkthroughs of all housing properties to ensure everything is in working condition.
- Select, train, supervise, and motivate student facilities staff assistants.
- Manage daily work orders and tasks as assigned.
- Make appropriate repairs to all residential properties.
- Outsource required work when necessary
- Assist with the execution of the department turn process, making necessary repairs and cleaning units.
- Participate in regular facilities training for Housing and Residence Life staff.
- Manage the Housing and Residence Life preventative maintenance plan.
- Assist with the request of repair and replacement plan submissions for extensive repair to housing properties.
- Perform low-level facility repair at University daycare.
- Provide cross training opportunities for facilities and custodial staff.
- Provide custodial support to the department when necessary.
Develop and maintain relationships with outside contractors who assist with the completion of maintenance tasks
- Key tradespeople in the UTEP Facilities department to address the needs of housing properties.
- Outside general contractors to assist with extensive work orders.
- ABM, UTEP contracted cleaning organization.
Equipment and supply inventory
- Develop an inventory process for all required supplies.
- Manage equipment maintenance to perform assigned responsibilities.
- Maintain inventory of replacement furniture for student apartments.
- Maintain inventory of replacement appliances for student apartments.
- Ensure any chemicals used meet the University standards and are stored and/or used in accordance with EH&S.
- Report any HRL vehicle concerns to the Assistant Director of HRL Facilities.
Attend HRL, Student Affairs and/or Engagement Wing meetings/training as invited.
Knowledge of all Microsoft Office software and ability to learn and use institutional software systems.
Complies with all State and University policies.
Other duties may be assigned.
Weekend presence is required to complete the turn process before the start of the fall, spring, and summer sessions.
Supervisory Responsibilities Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
and
Experience: Three years of experience, related to the statement of duties and responsibilities; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Occasional travel may be required.
