Pay Range
$54,600.00-$75,100.00 AnnualThis is the base salary pay range that an applicant can expect to make upon hire. Pay within this range will vary based upon relevant experience, skills, and education among other factors. In addition, this position is eligible for an incentive bonus.
Position Overview:This is a journeyman level position responsible for diagnosing mechanical issues, identifying root causes, and perform necessary repairs on machinery and equipment to minimize downtime. Working with the plant management team at all levels within the organization to support the four Johns Manville core values: People, Passion, Performance, and Protection. The position will report to the Facilities Manager.
The Maintenance Millwright plays a critical role in supporting the plant’s overall safety objectives. They must demonstrate a safety-first value, leading by example, not just abiding by all current safety rules, but supporting an environment of continuous improvement.
Your Day-to-Day:
- Works as a self-motivated individual with minimal supervision.
- Communicate to lab employees, supervisors, and others regarding the identification of problems and completion of jobs in their area both verbally and in writing.
- Will be the Operating Stationary Engineer’s backup and perform operations on boiler/chiller, process water treatment system, domestic water system, natural gas system and building heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems.
- Experience with rigging and moving heavy machinery.
- Advise facilities manager of operation problems and recommend actions.
- Operation of Forklifts and Personal Lifts.
- Always use safe work practices, follow all safety rules and procedures, immediately report any hazardous conditions, and fully participate in safety programs.
- Performs Lock Out/Tag Out system duties as assigned.
- Perform safety observations and complete training assignments.
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office & Outlook).
- On-call rotation schedule during non-business hours and may be required to work overtime when needed.
- Performs other duties as directed.
Mechanical
- Perform preventive maintenance, repair, and troubleshoot facility equipment.
- Maintain and rebuild reheat and perimeter and chilled water pumps, as necessary.
- Perform light fabrication and welding tasks as needed to modify or repair parts and components.
- Service pneumatics, hydraulics, belt drives, bushings/bearings/idler systems, gearboxes, pumps, and valves.
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair pumps and piping system.
- Reads and understands blueprints, sketches, mechanical drawings, and equipment manuals.
- Ability to perform skilled plumbing work on all applicable equipment and systems.
- Operating, maintaining, installing, and repairing building systems such as water, compressed air, and natural gas.
- Perform preventive maintenance on fire pumps and emergency generators.
Electrical
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, instruments loop sheets and technical manuals.
- Assist the electrician with installing and maintaining electronic and pneumatic measurements and control systems.
- Knowledge of how to troubleshoot and repair variable speed motor drive systems.
- Selects and uses all standard electrical/electronic and instrumentation test equipment.
What You Bring to the Team:
- Two-year College or technical school + 2 years’ experience; or 4-5 years in role with demonstrated skill.
- Strong problem resolution skills.
- Understand piping systems and their uses, including knowledge of and adherence to plant piping standards.
- Identify and implement equipment improvements to increase plant reliability.
- Strong proficiency with hand tools, as well as precision measuring instruments.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and blueprints.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
