POSITION PURPOSE: The full-time Machine Tool Technology Instructor assists the Program Director in the development of programmatic initiatives and curriculum. The instructor teaches specific machine tool technology courses, as assigned by the Program Director.

DUTIES: The full-time machine tool technology instructor will be responsible for teaching multiple theory classes and hands-on labs, so that students gain the knowledge and skills needed in cutting, shaping, forming and fabricating metal items using machine tools, and advanced manufacturing, etc.

Essential duties include, but are not limited to:

· Demonstrate machine tool technology expertise in a fully equipped facility.

· Teach general and specific shop (laboratory) and theory classes and those associated with the advanced manufacturing track, such as CNC, EDM, etc.

· Prepare students for a career in machining.

· Supervise student involvement in on-campus work assignments and school projects, while assisting students with classroom assignments and skill development to encourage successful attainment of program standards.

· Regularly and consistently monitor and record student aptitude and performance in classroom and/or shop/lab settings by means of standard instruments of evaluation, while also supporting student success.

· Create a focused, engaged, and equitable learning environment by being highly motivated and engaging the students in the learning process, while also meeting students where they are skill and competency-wise and teaching through experiential and meaningful projects.

· Serve as a role model for students and embrace/demonstrate the school’s core values.

· Comply with the school’s academic policies related to grading, academic probation, course failure, and course failure remediation.

· Effectively update and manage course information and student performance within the college’s learning management system and/or student information management system.

· Assist in planning and coordinating the logistics for program functions, including: instruction equipment and supplies, field trips, off-campus appointments, student internship programs, community service projects, and special presentations to the students.

· Be positive, energetic, dependable and have the ability to collaborate and communicate with integrity.

· Encourage and enforce student compliance with Williamson’s Conduct Code.

· Assist students in adjusting to established disciplinary standards and in internalizing the vital moral, ethical, and spiritual values of the School, with special emphasis on developing a strong work ethic.

· Assist in overseeing compliance with applicable safety standards, OSHA regulations, accident prevention rules and procedures, and hazardous materials handling requirements in the shop and on all school-related projects.

· Participate in professional development activities, as outlined in the Faculty Professional Development Plan.

· Attend and participate in scheduled in-service training sessions.

· Follow all school policies and procedures as described in the Employee Handbook.

· Maintain effective communication and close cooperation with the Program Director, Vice President of Academic Affairs and other faculty/staff to effectively attain the overall educational objectives of the program.

· Perform other duties, as occasionally assigned by the Program Director, Vice President of Academic Affairs, Provost and/or the President.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Must have a minimum of three years of experience in the machining trade, with a thorough understanding of manufacturing processes, including but not limited to cutting, shaping, forming, and fabricating materials and use of hand tools, measuring instruments, testing equipment, and basic and automatic machine tools.

· Have at least 1 specialty area under the umbrella of advanced manufacturing, such as: CNC, EDM, etc.

· Must be able to show a command of relevant theory and practice, contemporary knowledge, and best practices in the machining field.

· Have teaching experience at the secondary and/or post-secondary level (preferred but not required).

· Have an OSHA 30 certification (preferred not required).

COMPENSATION: Based on educational qualifications and applicable industry and teaching experience, the annual salary for the non-tenured, ten-month appointment is in the competitive range and includes an excellent benefits package.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

· Physical demands of the position require standing on your feet for extended periods (at least 3-hour stints) of time to teach in the classroom and shop, while also being able to handle the physical demands of the machining profession.

· Physical demands also require teaching labs, using visual, audio and computer assisted technology, as needed.
