Physical Requirements

Lifting, pushing, pulling up to 50 lbs., sitting for extended periods of time; including sitting at computer workstation. Occasional risk of injuries from use of equipment on the job, loud noises, temperature extremes, hazardous chemicals and fumes including waste, burns, cuts/punctures, combative/violent people, and animal handling (including carcasses).



Shift

Primarily Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm with flexibility for trainings, presentations, etc outside of these hours.



Job Summary

The Emergency Management (EM) Specialist serves in the UK HealthCare enterprise and reports directly to the Director of Emergency Management. The primary responsibilities of the EM Specialist include Training Compliance, Program Development Exercises and Communication Planning, Regulatory Compliance, Hospital Compliance and Professional Development.



Specific duties include establishing and maintaining a communications platform and program development through exercises, ensuring key University and hospital personnel receive appropriate mandatory training in emergency preparedness, assisting with accreditation yearly, and continuing professional development and training. This position can be interchangeable with the role of Emergency Management Educator within the UK HealthCare Emergency Management Division.



Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

This position will require candidates to take a polygraph examination as part of the University Police Department’s employment process.
