Required License/Registration/Certification
Food Handlers Permit, or ability to obtain Food Handlers Permit within 10 days of hire date
Physical Requirements
Lifting and caring up to 25lbs, pushing pulling cart with items up to 50lbs, some work is performed in a commercial kitchen setting, standing and walking for periods of time, ability to climb stairs.
Shift
Between 8am and 5pm, Monday – Friday
Job Summary
The Campus Kitchen at the University of Kentucky (CKUK) is recruiting motivated, energetic, and responsible students to support operations. Student workers will assist with meal prep, food recovery from local partners, and delivery of meals. Current graduate and undergraduate students at the University of Kentucky are eligible for this position. Student workers are expected to be able to work at least 10 hours per week. Pay is issued bi-weekly via direct deposit.

The responsibilities of the Campus Kitchen Operations Assistant student worker position include:
- Support food recovery efforts from UK Chandler’s Hospital, grocery stores, and other partners
- Work with team members on menu planning and preparation of meals for older adults, prioritizing recovered/rescued foods that are perishable and using any supplemental foods
- Manage timely meal delivery efforts to at least two subsidized older adult residences in Lexington, Kentucky
- Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and safety of the kitchen, food, equipment, and those working with food
- Keep consistent detailed records of every operation process under food safety guidelines and for reports, including but not limited to: food weight, food temperature, types of food and meals in and out of the kitchen, food compost amount and type, volunteer demographics and shift attendance, delivery details
